Elie Saab created his elegant feminine legacy through his early dress design work at age six in Beirut which led to his Paris haute couture presentations. The beginning of his career started in 1982 when he launched his own atelier in Lebanon which specialised in evening gowns and wedding dresses. His distinctive combination of lace with embroidery and pearls together with luxurious fabrics attracted royalty and celebrities during the mid-80s.
In 1997 he became the first non-Italian member of Italy’s prestigious Camera Nazionale della Moda before global fame arrived in 2002 when Halle Berry wore his gown to the Oscars. Since 2003 Saab has maintained membership in the French Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture while continuously presenting his collections in Paris through his sculpted designs and artistic influences.
Elie Saab maintains a dual focus between worldwide fashion trends and his Lebanese heritage by running his operations from Beirut while expanding his boutiques across the globe. The creative source of Lebanon continues to inspire Saab as he develops designs that express confident sensuality in women. The name Elie Saab stands for more than just fashion design because it symbolises eternal elegance which he created through his intense dedication to precise craftsmanship.
